SOLVEIG LEITHAUG – Norwegian born singer/songwriter
(pronounced Sol-vey Light – houg)
An international Dove award-winning musical veteran, Solveig is a singer-
songwriter whose compositions and work reflect her journey from Norway's
fjords to Nashville's rivers. From small gatherings in Scandinavian villages to
the Grand Ole Opry with Bill and Gloria Gaither's Homecoming Friends, her
honest lyrics and guitar-based pop- folk and Americana-infused sound have
been heard live in over twenty nations. Over the years, her music has served
as a soundtrack to her listeners in life's ebbs and flows, highs, and lows.
Solveig's 2019 album, Riverside - Hymns & Spiritual Songs, is her sixteenth
solo project and has been called the most significant work of her multi-decade
career.
Artist/producer/filmmaker Steve Taylor said of Solveig’s Riverside recording,
"She couldn't have possibly made this album at the age of twenty. At this stage
in a career, many artists would have played it safe, compensating for
weakened creativity. With Riverside, Solveig does her most vulnerable and
finest recording ever"
A full-time musician since 1986, some of her more popular collaborations
over the years include Andrae Crouch, Buddy Greene (Mary Did You Know),
Melody Green, Cindy Morgan, the late Larry Norman, and the Oslo Gospel
Choir. In addition to her roles as a touring artist and songwriter, Solveig
serves as an ambassador for Compassion International. She was a founding
board member in the Nordic region from 2012- 2019.
Solveig has resided in the USA for over twenty-five years. She makes her home
with her husband Jim near Nashville, Tennessee, with whom she has a
blended growing creative family.
