Can diversity of opinion coexist with respectful dialogue?

Recent tragic events in America have ignited conversations on race relations leading to national civic unrest unseen by younger generations in their lifetime.

Some see modern America as perpetuating systemic racism and inequality. Topics such as white privilege, social justice, and cancel culture have become household discussions.

Is America part of the problem or the solution to the healing of racial injustice in the world? Is it possible to acknowledge past sins while being grateful Americans from every skin color and walk of life? Can diverse Americans—including independent thinkers from within the Black community—engage in spirited and meaningful dialogue without demonizing each other? Is there an analysis of American history that can be seen as good and hopeful through the eyes of people of color?

In this live civic forum, the recent nationally acclaimed documentary Uncle Tom will be shown. The film discusses the history of Black America through the lens of African Americans who love their country. After the showing, special guests Brandon Tatum and Micah Grant will be with us to model an honest discussion of the merits of the film.

Mr. Tatum is a national political figure and cast-member who is featured prominently in the film, while Mr. Grant is a Sacramento businessman and activist who serves on the Natomas Unified School Board.

Reserve your space today for this special evening showcasing what respectful dialogue and mutual learning around these issues can look like. We need to be taught. We need to be educated. Not just on historical data, but on how to discuss and debate in ways that build trust and encourage the free exchange of ideas.
