Evangelical Theological Society- Midwest Regional Meeting 2020
The 65th Midwest Regional Meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society will take place at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary on March 27 and 28, 2020. The hosting Chairman for this year’s conference is Michael Wittmer, Professor of Systematic Theology at GRTS.
Theme: “What I’ve Learned: Distinguished Scholars Share Their Stories”
Distinguished scholars George Marsden, Millard Erickson, David Turner (banquet speaker), and Richard Muller will reflect on their careers and pass on what they most want the next generation to know.
Besides these plenary speakers, there will be numerous breakout sessions by professors and scholars presenting their latest research on biblical, theological, and ministry topics. Evangelical publishers will be present to sell their newest books at discounted prices and theologians, pastors, and students can network with peers and reconnect with old friends and make new ones.
Speaker Biographies:
George Marsden: Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Notre Dame. Notable books include Jonathan Edwards: A Life, Understanding Fundamentalism and Evangelicalism, and The Outrageous Idea of Christian Scholarship.
Millard Erickson: Independent scholar after a lifetime of teaching theology, primarily at Bethel University. Notable books include Christian Theology, Reclaiming the Center, and What Does God Know and When Does He Know It?
David Turner: Professor Emeritus of New Testament at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Notable books include Matthew (Baker Exegetical Commentary), Israel’s Last Prophet, and Interpreting the Gospels and Acts.
Richard Muller: Professor Emeritus of Historical Theology at Calvin Theological Seminary. Notable books include Post-Reformation Reformed Dogmatics: the Rise and Development of Reformed Theology, ca. 1520-ca.1725 (4 volumes), The Unaccommodated Calvin, and Divine Will and Human Choice: Freedom, Contingency, and Necessity in Early Modern Reformed Thought.
